Job Description

Duties
Help
  • Coordinate an 18 member statutory federal advisory committee comprised of senior leadership within the DoD, the Military Services, military spouses, and representatives of non-governmental agencies supporting military family readiness.
  • Ensure all Military Family Readiness Council and sub-working group activities comply with FACA, 41 CFR Part 102-3, DoD policies (e.g., DTM 21-002), and other applicable laws.
  • Develop policy that supports the ongoing needs of multiple stakeholders to include service members, family members, service providers, and leaders at every level of the Department.
  • Focus on leveraging resources in support of multiple programs designed to assist service members and their families in areas to include personal and family life readiness, financial readiness, mobilization and deployment, and relocation.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of program and regulatory requirements, management principles, and the application of technology to community support programs.
  • Review Government Accountability Office (GAO), DoD Inspector General (IG), and military service audit reports as appropriate to the area of concern.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes knowledge of regulations such as: Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), GSA Secretariat guidance, and agency FACA administrative procedures, developing and/or monitoring the implementation of DoD Directives, Instructions, and publications relating to family support programs, monitoring the impact of current initiatives related to family support programs, and assisting in preparing testimony of family support programs and issues for the USD (P&R)'s testimony to Congress. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
