Engineering Project Manager

The Engineering Project Manager supports the 18 Civil Engineer Group daily mission operations through tasks that include MILCON and Facility Sustainment Restoration and Modernization (FSRM) project management as part of our company's on-site engineering team to assist across a variety of planning, programming, engineering, project management. The position will help support review of design work for repair, construction, renovation, and improvement projects.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Engineering Project Manager: $100,000 - $110,000

Pay commensurate with experience. Housing allowance included: $3,700 per month

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Engineering Project Manager Responsibilities Include:
  • Acquisition support. Work closely with the Kadena Air Base contracting office and the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to provide technical advice and helps manage projects supporting Civil Engineering and other stakeholders on Kadena AB.
  • MILCON and FSRM (O&M) contractor support as necessary. In concert with the team, duties include preparing Statement of Work (SOW) packages and cost estimates (to include Independent Government Estimates), and processing contracting (contractor) submittals.
  • This project manager role will assist with project assessments, planning, and deliverable execution by Cherokee employees in support of Civil Engineering (includes other customers) and A&E contractor, as needed. Project Manager has ability to analyze drawings/designs and check for compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria Code (UFC) and appropriate building codes (US Federal and local). This position supports realistic expectations toward Engineering Program goals, and timely and accurate deliverables. Projects include vertical (structures) and horizontal (pavements) requirements.
  • COR support. Work with the Team, COR and the Civil Engineer Group to receive and manage deliverables, review invoices, manage files, proactively reply to issues and emails as requested by the COR. Provides recommendations to the government regarding project management, as requested.
  • Facilitates MILCON and FSRM (O&M) related project meetings with other contractors and internal government clients; present recommendations to leadership. Meetings also include stakeholder facilitation and site-specific visits, etc.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Engineering Project Manager Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited school in a relevant degree, preferred.
  • 5 years' experience within the last 10 years, focusing on engineering project management. Project portfolio experience should include pavement(s) infrastructure.
  • Preferably includes familiarity with Asset Management principles, MILCON projects, and FSRM Program Business Rules.
  • AFIMSC and/or AFCEC experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Air Force Base level and Major Command level experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Air Force NACI/SF85 for unescorted access to controlled areas.
  • Excellent communication, computer, and data management skills required. Experience with facility-related data systems (e.g., TRIRIGA/NexGen, GEOBASE, Builder, etc.).
  • Demonstrated professional-level ability to work with engineers, contracting, contractors, and end-users to collect data, present findings, and recommend alternative courses of action.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
