Job Description:

The Business Development (BD) & Growth Internship Program offers students an immersive experience in federal business development, strategic growth initiatives, and emerging AI-enabled operational solutions within the GovCon industry.Through hands-on projects, interns will support Tria Federal's Growth and Business Development team in developing strategic tools, conducting market and legislative research, and supporting initiatives that improve pipeline visibility, strategic decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.This internship provides the opportunity to strengthen analytical, communication, research, and problem-solving skills while gaining exposure to federal contracting, growth strategy, legislative engagement, and AI-assisted solution development.

Internship Objective:

The BD & Growth Internship is designed to provide a real-world consulting and strategic growth experience. Interns will contribute to initiatives focused on connecting business-development strategy, pipeline management, and legislative intelligence to support proactive growth efforts across the organization.Participants will gain exposure to GovCon business development processes, market research methodologies, pipeline analysis, and strategic communications while supporting innovative operational-improvement initiatives.Additionally, this program provides exposure to emerging technologies and AI-enabled workflows, allowing interns to explore how tools such as Generative AI can improve operational efficiency, research, reporting, and strategic planning within a federal growth environment.

Networking & Professional Opportunities:

Interns will collaborate with Tria Federal growth leaders, business-development professionals, capture teams, and cross-functional stakeholders while participating in:
  • Regular project and leadership meetings.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with BD, Growth, and Operations teams.
  • Mentorship opportunities with senior business-development professionals.
  • Exposure to federal market strategy, legislative engagement, and pipeline operations.

Throughout the internship, participants will:
  • Gain exposure to federal business-development and growth operations.
  • Develop research, analytical, and strategic-thinking skills.
  • Learn fundamentals of pipeline management, capture strategy, and legislative research.
  • Strengthen written and verbal communication skills for executive and client-facing audiences.
  • Gain exposure to AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies supporting business operations.
  • Build professional networks with Tria leaders and growth professionals.

Basic Requirements:
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Interest in federal consulting, GovCon business development, public policy, or growth strategy.
  • Ability to research and synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual or hybrid team environment.
  • Interest or familiarity with AI-enabled technologies, automation tools, or data visualization platforms preferred.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Business, Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, Data Analytics, Marketing, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Prior internship, coursework, or project experience related to research, strategy, business operations, or communications preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship required; ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities:

Interns will collaborate with Tria Federal's BD and Growth teams to support strategic initiatives and operational-improvement efforts. Work may include:
  • Strategic Research & Analysis: Conducting market, legislative, and competitive research to support growth initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Pipeline & Opportunity Support: Assisting with organization and analysis of pipeline and capture-related information.
  • Legislative & Policy Monitoring: Supporting research and tracking of legislative developments relevant to Tria Federal's strategic priorities.
  • AI & Emerging Technology Exploration: Exploring AI-enabled tools and automation opportunities that support business-development operations and workflow efficiency.
  • Data Visualization & Reporting: Assisting with dashboards, summaries, presentations, and reporting materials for internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic Communications: Supporting development of briefing materials, executive summaries, and stakeholder-facing content.
  • Process Improvement Initiatives: Identifying opportunities to improve workflows, knowledge management, and operational efficiency within the Growth organization.

  • Supporting development of strategic-growth dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Assisting with legislative and market research tied to federal growth initiatives.
  • Supporting modernization efforts related to pipeline visibility and strategic planning.
  • Exploring AI-assisted workflows for research, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Developing research summaries, briefing materials, and strategic insights for leadership teams.

Expected Outcomes & Deliverables:

By the completion of the internship, participants will have contributed to a portfolio of professional business-development and strategic-growth deliverables, including:
  • Research findings, strategic summaries, or briefing materials.
  • Analytical reports, dashboards, or operational insights.
  • Recommendations supporting process improvements or operational efficiency.
  • Communication products supporting leadership engagement and strategic initiatives.
  • Documentation and presentations demonstrating project contributions and internship outcomes.
