J7 Lessons Learned SME
KBR is hiring highly skilled and motivated candidates to join a high-performance team and provide support to U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM) as a Lessons Learned Subject Matter Expert (SME). An active TS/SCI clearance is MANDATORY.
The Lessons Learned SME supports USSPACECOM J7 by supporting the capture, analysis, and institutionalization of lessons learned from joint training events, exercises, wargames, and operational activities. This position plays a critical role in USSPACECOM's continuous improvement efforts by ensuring observations and insights are translated into actionable recommendations that inform future planning, training, and readiness.

This range is for Colorado only.
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.

Duties include:
Key Responsibilities:
- Support USSPACECOM J7 in the collection, analysis, validation, and documentation of lessons learned from joint exercises, wargames, tabletop exercises (TTXs), rehearsals, and real world operations.
- Manage the lessons learned program across the full lifecycle, including observation identification, analysis, recommendation development, corrective action tracking, and closure.
- Develop after action reports (AARs), lessons learned reports, executive summaries, and senior-leader briefings in support of Tier 1 and Tier 2 events.
- Integrate lessons learned into future joint training and exercise planning, assessment products, and capability development initiatives.
- Coordinate with exercise planning and assessment teams to align lessons learned with the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC).
- Maintain and manage lessons learned and assessment data within approved knowledge and information management systems.
- Facilitate collaboration across USSPACECOM directorates, other Combatant Commands, Services, and interagency partners.
- Provide subject matter expertise on joint assessments, lessons learned best practices, and continuous process improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
- An active Top Secret clearance with SCI, ACCM and SAP eligibility, which is something only a U.S. citizen can obtain.
- Bachelor's degree or higher required, preferably in military studies, operations research, program management, information/knowledge management, or a related discipline. 15+ years relevant experience within the DoW in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience supporting lessons learned, operational assessments, joint exercises, or Combatant Command-level activities.
- Demonstrated experience capturing and analyzing lessons learned from joint or operational environments.
- Experience with the Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS).
- Strong analytical ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior leaders.
- Extensive experience developing, memorandums, talking papers, staff packages, and other DoW correspondence.
- Extensive experience developing senior level briefings.
- Experience coordinating between staff agencies to ensure a coherent effort.
- Current space / joint space operations knowledge and background.
- Previous experience on a Combatant Command, MAJCOM, HHQ, Joint Staff, OSD staff etc.
Desired:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Completion of JPME I is highly desired, and JPME II is preferred.
- Familiarity with USSPACECOM missions, joint training constructs, and assessment frameworks.
- Experience supporting J7, Joint Exercise Divisions, or Service-level training organizations.
- Knowledge of Joint doctrine, exercises, and assessment methodologies.
- Background in information management, knowledge management, or continuous improvement initiatives.
