As a Thermal Engineer on GS, you will:
• Perform detailed thermal design and analysis
on spacecraft components and the entire
spacecraft thermal system
• Provide technical memos and
recommendations to support peer and customer
reviews
• Present design and analysis data to the
spacecraft design/engineering team, customer
technical representatives, and Program Office
personnel at technical interchange meetings and
formal design reviews
• Provide review, interpretation, flow-down, and
implementation of program requirements
• Provide test support for component-level and
system-level thermal tests
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or related
technical field) or equivalent experience/combined education
• Comprehensive understanding of thermal
analysis methods and processes (e.g. heat
transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics,
classical hand calculations)
• Experience with finite difference and/or finite
element numerical solution tools (e.g., Thermal
Desktop, SINDA, NX Thermal, Solidworks)
• US Citizenship and the desire and ability to
obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security
Clearance
Desired Skills:
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in
thermal analysis of space structures
• Experience with analysis and test of thermal
environments (e.g., thermal vacuum, thermal
cycling, thermal balance)
• Experience with engineering level computer
programming (e.g. Matlab)
• Experience with test engineering,
instrumentation, data collection, and/or test
reports
• Self-motivated with an active interest to engage with a team and mentor junior engineers
• Excellent written and verbal technical
communication skills
• Ability to occasionally support 24/7 activities
• Active Top Secret or SCI Security Clearance

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
