Job Description

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Desktop Support Technician to support our government customer located in Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands .

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide enterprise level support for Tier II Desktop and some network NEC Baseline Support requirements and mission support as required.
  • Support other NEC Baseline service requests and cyber security as required.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain NIPR computer systems island wide.
  • Install and configure approved-for-use common user desktop software on unclassified desktop systems.
  • Perform release management, to include commercial, standard software, and new system releases.
  • Provide local touch labor services, to include installation, troubleshooting, and software updates; security updates; vendor patches (service packs, service releases), etc., when electronic application means do not exist.
  • Receive, test, tailor, publish, and advertise patch packages containing common user software updates, security updates, and vendor patches for push to
  • unclassified end user devices.
  • Receive, test, tailor, publish, and advertise patch packages containing software updates, security updates and vendor patches for push to end user devices residing on the SIPRNET.
  • Assist customers with determining DoD approved Enterprise hosting solutions for applications.
  • Re-image computers with DOD approved software, add to Army Domains, and manage security and access rights with active directory.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Associate's degree in IT field preferred, or High School diploma accepted for additional years of experience.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. passport.
  • DoD 8570 baseline and CE certification-IAT-II.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Ability to relocate and reside at the USAG-KA in the RMI. You must meet current vaccination requirements for infectious diseases to enter the RMI. Must also be willing to meet any future vaccination requirements if mandated by the RMI.
  • Pre-employment health screening is required due to the island's remote location and limited medical and dental capabilities.
  • Ability to ride a bicycle or walk at least 2 miles to/from work daily. There are no personally owned vehicles allowed on USAG-KA. Transportation is primarily by bicycle.
  • Ability to travel by plane or small sea-going vessel between working locations.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Rotational callback and emergency duty are requirements of this position.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft computing environments.
  • Must have experience with a wide array of IT systems and devices.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • SECRET security clearance to access classified information.
