As a SUPERVISORY INSPECTOR GENERAL at the GS-1801-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Serves as the Inspector General (IG) of the DWIA, with responsibility for ensuring that the Director, DWIA receives accurate and complete information on all issues and programs involving the identification and elimination of fraud, waste and abuse with DWIA, and coordinating with other DoD Components, Departments and Agencies of the government performing related functions for the exchange of information related to assigned functions and responsibilities.
- Develops policy, evaluates program performance, and monitors follow-up actions taken by DWIA Components in response to audits, inspections, and reviews conducted by the DWIA IG, DoD IG, and the General Accountability Office (GAO).
- Serves as the principal advisor to the Director, DWIA on all matters related to audits, investigations, and inspections, ensuring the prevention and detection of fraud, waste, and abuse within the agency's programs and operations.
- Develops policies for, initiates, conducts, and supervises all audits, investigations, and inspections within DWIA and its subordinate components. This includes investigating complaints of violations of law, mismanagement, gross waste of funds, or abuse of authority, and recommending corrective actions. Monitors the adherence of DWIA components to these policies and evaluates the effectiveness of corrective actions taken in response to audit findings from the DWIA IG, DoD IG, and GAO.
- Acts as the primary liaison for DWIA with the DoD IG, DCAA, GAO, and other law enforcement officials. Represents the agency's interests and ensures effective collaboration and coordination on all related matters.
- Establishes and manages the DWIA Hotline program, ensuring the confidential, prompt, and proper processing of all allegations received. This includes protecting the identity of users and investigating matters of whistleblower reprisal and senior official misconduct.
- Leads the agency's compliance assessment and inspection program, providing actionable intelligence to senior leadership to improve performance and ensure adherence to laws and regulations. Manages the culture and climate survey process to enhance the organization's environment.
