Our Defense Team supports the DoD Cloud‑Based Internet Isolation (CBII) capability delivering secure internet access to a global DoD user base.

AT&T has an opening for a Configuration Manager to support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) in providing IT services and connectivity in a Department of War (DoW) environment.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Support the Program Manager in execution of contractual compliance.
  • Develop and implement a Configuration Identification Plan to baseline all network configuration items (CI) including types, versions, owners. Establish the initial configuration baseline for hardware, software, and cloud configurations.
  • Administer the network Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring all CIs and their relationships are accurately captured. Update the CMDB weekly with changes (new deployments, updates, decommissions).
  • Enforce configuration management processes in concert with the engineering team. Participate in configuration change boards (CCBs) to analyze the impact of changes, track Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and document all modifications.
  • Track software licenses, certificate expirations, and component lifecycles to ensure timely renewals or replacements. Monitor End-of-Life (EOL)/End-of-Service (EOS) statuses for hardware and software, coordinating upgrades or replacements proactively.
  • Conduct quarterly CMDB audits to verify the completeness and accuracy of configuration records. Generate configuration status reports (summarizing audit results, configuration drift, and compliance with CM standards) for program management.
  • Maintain comprehensive configuration management (CM) documentation (CM plan, procedures) and update it as the system evolves. Ensure all teams follow CM procedures when deploying changes, and keep records for accountability.
  • Work closely with Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and engineering (Technical Experts) to ensure configurations meet security requirements (NIST 800-53 CM controls) and align with the technical baseline. Support supply chain risk management from a configuration perspective (e.g., tracking hardware origin, firmware updates).

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DoD or DISA IT service programs.
  • Proficiency in NIST 800-53 configuration management controls and DoD change control process compliance.
  • Experienced in formal CM and CMDB tools.

Desired Qualifications:
  • ITIL Practitioner (Release, Control & Validation) or vendor-specific CMDB tool certifications (ServiceNow CMDB, BMC, etc.) to demonstrate expertise.
  • Proven track record of meticulous documentation and process discipline which is essential for managing thousands of configuration items in a complex environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, network devices, software components.
  • Ability to train other team members on CM procedures and importance, fostering a culture of compliance with configuration control for all changes.
