Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a skilled and experienced UPS/HVAC Technician II to support power systems and HVAC operations at Al Udeid Air Base. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of UPS/power systems and HVAC equipment. This position requires working primarily within the AFCENT Area of Responsibility (AOR) with occasional TDY travel.
Job Description:
- Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of UPS and electrical power systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Test refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and related control systems and equipment.
- Work with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), transformers, and Eaton/Powerware UPS equipment.
- Ensure compliance with National Electric Code (NEC), grounding, and safety standards.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals for both electrical and HVAC systems.
- Perform soldering, welding, cutting, and brazing on HVAC components as needed.
- Service electronic and electromagnetic instruments/controls to maintain system reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain and operate tools and equipment necessary for UPS and HVAC system installation and repair.
- Remain in AFCENT AOR throughout task order execution, except for authorized TDY travel, vacations, emergency leave, and end of tour.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Associates Degree with at least 3 years of experience. Additional years of experience and/or completion of at least 3 U.S. Military schools in electronic communications equipment or systems, and Grade E-6 or equivalent will also suffice. Completion of formal resident trade school or apprentice program or equivalent military training. Military equivalence includes HVAC Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC), HVAC Military Occupational Specialty (Marine Corps and Army), and/or HVAC Navy Enlisted Classification.
- Must have at least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting installation, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of power systems or equipment.
- Must have specialized experience (at least 3 years):
- Electrician experience with familiarity of the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Knowledge of proper grounding, safety standards, and NEC compliance.
- Maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical power generation, distribution, and transformation systems.
- Working with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and transformers.
- Experience with Eaton/Powerware UPS equipment.
- Experience with both 50 Hz and 60 Hz power systems and equipment.
- Must have general HAVAC experience at least 4 years working as an HVAC technician with responsibilities including:
- Regular inspection of HVAC systems to ensure proper operation.
- Effective and timely troubleshooting of malfunctions.
- Testing refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, and related control systems and equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams.
- Maintaining devices and equipment used to install HVAC systems.
- Performing soldering, oxyacetylene or propane welding, cutting, and brazing on HVAC components such as shafts, pulleys, compressors, bodies, and refrigerant lines.
- Servicing electronic and electromagnetic instruments/controls and adjusting systems for maximum reliability and efficiency.
- Must have at least 2 years working on HVAC systems utilizing US and European voltages, including:
- Sound knowledge of various devices that perform HVAC functions.
- Ability to use tools and equipment needed to install, troubleshoot, remove, and repair HVAC systems.
- Understanding of operation and functions of HVAC control devices.
- Must be able to remain in the AFCENT AOR throughout task order execution, except for authorized TDY travel, vacations, emergency leave, and end of tour.
- Must have strong commitment to safety and compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
- Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic operational environment.
Security Requirement:
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Prefer an Active DoD Secret security clearance or Secret clearance in Interarm an the ability to maintain a clearance.
- Must pass a pre-deployment screening and complete a military Combat Readiness Center (CRC) process
Travel Requirement:
- 100% OCONUS
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a US passport and be eligible to get VISAs throughout the middle east by start of position
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirement:
- Must have the ability to lift 40lbs regularly and up to 100lbs on occasion with assistance.
- Repetitive motion, Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, and Visual Acuity (depth perception)
- Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 60 pounds of force frequently, or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia)
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another, communicating with others to exchange information, Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
