Providing technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) or requests for technical assistance affecting assigned subsystems, without customary reference, and requiring direct communications with ships' officers. Performing functional checkout, assessment, adjustment, and test of new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment. Participating in ordnance alterations (ORDALTs), ship alterations, and field changes which include modification of components. Performing shipboard assessments to validate material and operational readiness of assigned system (e.g., AEGIS AN/SPY-RADAR systems and subsystems). CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT:
1. This position requires that the incumbent hold a SECRET security clearance; eligibility for said clearance level is a basic job requirement.
2. This is an Emergency Essential (E-E) position per DoD Directive 1200.7. This position is subject to deployment into combat zones in accordance with section 1580 of title 10, United States Code (U.S.C.). The incumbent of this position must meet all E-E requirements and may be required as a condition of employment to take a series of vaccinations and annual boosters to immunize against anthrax and other diseases. The incumbent may be required to take part in readiness exercises. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively, therefore, the position requires the incumbent to be screened from military recall. This position requires a physical. Form DD2365 "DoD Civilian Employee Overseas Emergency-Essential Position Agreement" is required. Signed statement of understanding required. Incumbents must be removed from their military recall status.
3. This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training (offered during working hours).
4. This position requires the incumbent to perform temporary duty travel approximately 30% of the time which may be on short notice and/or for extended periods of time to locations remote from the duty station.
5. This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
6. This position requires the incumbent be eligible for an official U.S. Government passport.
7. Pre-employment physical is required.
8. Must be able to satisfactorily complete all job certifications requirements.

- You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPs) or similar problems affecting assigned equipment.
- You will provide technical assistance on less urgent but complex technical problems beyond the capability of forces afloat, intermediate maintenance activities, or repair activities to diagnose and correct.
- You will perform functional checkout, grooming, adjustment, and test of repaired, new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment (a majority of which is at sea).
- You will provide authoritative technical engineering guidance to Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) activities and port engineers in resolution of repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems beyond their level of in-house engineering expertise.
- You will serve as team leader of organized teams (e.g. Assessments and Inspections) composed of at least five General Schedule technicians/contractor equivalent with responsibility for functional checkout, tests, and inspection of major systems.
- You will participate in ordnance alterations (ORDALTs), ship alterations, and field changes (FCs) which include actual hands-on modification of components.
