This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Performing layout, fabrication, assembly, repair, and installation of a variety of sheet metal items; 2) Fabricating sheet metal items having combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves and planes; 3) Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics; 4) Using precision measuring devices on a variety of metals and alloys. - Must be skilled in the manipulation of combination locks as well as picking key locks.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of the internal structure and operating characteristics of a wide range of makes, models, and types of mechanical locking mechanisms.
- Must have the knowledge to set up master key systems.
- Must have the skill to fabricate parts when they are not available and the knowledge to modify parts when they cannot be duplicated or when locking devices need to be adapted for a special purpose.
- Must have the ability to interpret and apply technical manuals, manufacturer's diagrams, and specifications in repairing and testing locking mechanisms.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- May be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- May be required to serve as an on-call duty mechanic on a rotational basis. An on-call duty mechanic is required to carry a duty cell phone and duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
