At Sierra Space, we build the missions and systems that keep our world secure in the domain above Earth.

Sierra Space team members share a spirit of innovation and collaboration and a belief that we can deliver on the boldest missions in space today. Together with our customers, we aim to safeguard our nation, sustain human presence in space, and secure the freedom of operations in low Earth orbit and beyond.

Our success is measured by the trust of those who rely on what we build and deliver, and our technologies keep the United States and its allies mission-ready throughout space.

We are mission-driven, and together, we are an extraordinary team.

About the Role

As a Test Engineer II at Sierra Space, you will utilize your knowledge and experience to contribute to the testing and validation of aerospace systems and components. You will participate in the planning, execution, and documentation of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities. This role requires strong knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams to solve technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

About You

Our mission is driven by an unyielding commitment to advancing space-based technology in service of our customers and safeguarding national security. We seek individuals who are passionate about innovating beyond boundaries and relentlessly pursuing solutions that protect, preserve and empower - to join us in this critical mission.

We're looking for team members who align with our values, mission and goals - while also meeting the minimum qualifications below. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing, scheduling, executing, and documenting test events to Verify and Validate (V&V) aerospace systems and components
  • Develop products such as test plans, procedures, and scripts to support test execution
  • Identify and define necessary test support equipment
  • Generate test execution reports to show traceability of V&V
  • Ensure compliance with system requirements through V&V activities
  • Apply strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices throughout the test planning and execution phase
  • Apply logical troubleshooting techniques and documentation to resolve testing issues
  • Effectively coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams to design and develop appropriate test products
  • Prepare preliminary cost and schedule estimates for test activities
  • Manage adherence to program budgets/schedule throughout test development and execution phases
  • Identify and elevate test development or execution schedule risks
  • Create and present information effectively to team members and senior engineers
  • Identify process gaps and work to implement solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree)
  • Typically 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of Product and Quality Assurance principles and experience with generation and disposition of product non-conformances
  • Ability to read/interpret schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical troubleshooting techniques
  • Basic experience with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies
  • Exposure to and execution of complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports in order to demonstrate compliance with system requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Jira
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar planning tools
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and apply new concepts in test engineering
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with focus on practical technical solutions
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with cost and schedule considerations
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peers while maintaining collaborative relationships
  • Strategic thinking to evaluate both short and long-term impacts of decisions
  • Good judgment about when to escalate issues versus resolving independently
  • Ability to maintain productive working relationships under pressure
  • Confidence to advocate for an approach while remaining open to alternative perspectives
  • Self-awareness to recognize experience shortcomings when formulating a solution and comfort to seek answers from those with more experienced

Compensation:

Pay Range:

$91,158.00 - $125,364.00

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
