Job Description
We are seeking highly qualified Law Clerk I candidates to support attorneys in a fast‑paced litigation environment. This role requires extensive legal research and writing, strong analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail. Candidates will support complex litigation matters and may be asked to assist with claims assessment and analysis.
This is not a first‑level document review role. Preference will be given to higher‑level candidates with demonstrated legal writing depth and strong research experience.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA‑accredited law school (required)
Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems
Strong experience with legal research methodologies and resources
Advanced proficiency with LexisNexis and Westlaw
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience drafting:
Legal memoranda
Briefs
Motions
Legal correspondence
High level of attention to detail, particularly with legal writing and citations
Hands‑on experience with:
Word processing software
Databases and document management systems
Spreadsheets and imaging tools
Familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures
Ability to work onsite five (5) days per week in downtown Washington, DC
Must reside in the DMV area and be able to commute daily
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with claims assessment and analysis
Strong analytical judgment and issue‑spotting skills
Prior litigation support experience in complex matters
Key Responsibilities
Work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor
Conduct complex legal research in support of trial teams
Draft and assist with:
Motions
Briefs
Memoranda of law
Supporting legal documentation
Review documents for relevance and privilege
Assist attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including case preparation and trial support
Evaluation & Selection Criteria
Candidates will be evaluated on:
Depth and quality of legal writing and research experience
Analytical rigor and attention to detail
Claims assessment or analysis experience (preferred)
Ability to meet LCAT‑aligned rate requirements
Willingness and ability to work fully onsite
