We are seeking an experienced Pega Data/Integration Engineer to support data architecture, integration design, migration support, API implementation, interface validation, and sustainment for an enterprise Pega-based SaaS modernization effort within the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role supports secure and reliable data exchange across the SaaS solution and interfacing systems while enabling PPBE, budget, acquisition, reporting, auditability, and AI/reporting readiness. The Pega Data/Integration Engineer works closely with architects, Pega engineers, Product Owners, testers, platform administrators, and release managers to define data models, support API-based integration patterns, develop migration templates, perform data validation, resolve data exceptions, and maintain traceability across the solution lifecycle.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support data architecture, integration, interoperability, migration, and interface activities for an enterprise Pega-based SaaS solution.
• Develop and maintain data models, data dictionaries, metadata artifacts, data mapping documentation, interface specifications, and integration support materials.
• Design and support API-based, secure, standards-aligned integration approaches between VIPPS and internal or external systems.
• Support data migration planning and execution, including templates, mapping, cleansing, normalization, transformation, exception handling, validation, and reconciliation.
• Collaborate with the Pega Lead System Architect to ensure data and integration patterns align with solution architecture, security requirements, auditability needs, and sustainment objectives.
• Work with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data sources, authoritative data elements, reporting needs, workflow dependencies, and data quality expectations.
• Support implementation of data pipelines, integration logic, interface monitoring, and data validation processes.
• Participate in interface control documentation, interoperability standards, integration test planning, and integration defect resolution.
• Support test teams with test data strategy, integration test scenarios, migration validation, interface testing, and data-related defect triage.
• Support AI/reporting readiness by ensuring source data, metadata, lineage, permissions, and reporting inputs are accurate, traceable, and appropriately governed.
• Monitor data flows and interface performance during operations and support root cause analysis for data or integration issues.
• Maintain integration documentation, data artifacts, migration logs, validation results, and knowledge-base materials in approved repositories.
• Coordinate with configuration, change, and release management resources to ensure data and interface changes are controlled, tested, documented, and baselined
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• 6+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, systems integration, API implementation, data migration, enterprise application integration, or related technical roles.
• Experience supporting data architecture, data modeling, metadata management, data mapping, transformation, migration, and validation activities.
• Familiarity with Pega data structures, Pega integration patterns, APIs, connectors, services, or enterprise workflow/case management systems.
• Experience designing or supporting secure API-based integrations, interface control documentation, data exchange patterns, and interoperability standards.
• Practical understanding of data cleansing, normalization, transformation, reconciliation, exception handling, and test data preparation.
• Experience supporting integration testing, system testing, UAT, defect triage, and production issue resolution related to data or interfaces.
• Familiarity with auditability, traceability, RBAC, access logging, data governance, and secure handling of sensitive data.
• Strong SQL, data analysis, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills
• Ability to work effectively with architects, developers, testers, business analysts, platform administrators, and Government stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain data and integration issues clearly.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
• Exposure to Federal, state, health, financial, or other regulated data environments is beneficial; Department of Veterans Affairs experience is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with financial, acquisition, HR, identity, reporting, budgeting, or other enterprise data domains is valued.
• Experience with Pega data structures, Pega integrations, REST APIs, OpenAPI, JSON, XML, ETL/ELT, or cloud integration patterns is a plus.
• Working knowledge of data governance, metadata, data quality, migration validation, lineage, auditability, or secure data exchange is beneficial.
• Relevant data, integration, cloud, API, or Pega certifications are preferred, but not required.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
