We are seeking an experienced BPM/UX/AI Workflow Specialist to support business process modeling, user experience design, workflow analysis, AI-enabled reporting concepts, and adoption support for an enterprise SaaS modernization effort within the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role helps define how users interact with a Pega-based solution supporting PPBE, budget, acquisition, approval, reporting, and auditability processes. The BPM/UX/AI Workflow Specialist works with stakeholders, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, architects, developers, data resources, testers, trainers, and change management teams to document current and future workflows, improve usability, support AI/report generator requirements, and ensure the solution reflects real operational needs while remaining configurable, traceable, and user-centered.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct business process analysis and modeling for PPBE, budget, acquisition, approval, reporting, workflow, and compliance processes.

• Develop current-state and future-state process models, workflow diagrams, user journeys, use case inputs, and role-based interaction documentation.

• Support stakeholder workshops, discovery sessions, usability reviews, and workflow validation discussions.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and business analysts to translate process needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, workflow requirements, and sprint-ready backlog items.

• Work with architects and Pega engineers to ensure workflow designs can be implemented within Pega configuration guardrails and approved solution architecture.

• Support user experience analysis, screen flow review, content organization, navigation recommendations, and usability improvements.

• Support AI/report generator enablement by helping define report-use cases, narrative generation needs, template logic, data selection rules, human-in-the-loop review points, and workflow-integrated reporting concepts.

• Ensure workflow and UX recommendations support auditability, traceability, accessibility, role-based access, and operational consistency.

• Support training and OCM resources by providing workflow context, role-based process information, job impact analysis, user readiness inputs, and adoption considerations.

• Participate in sprint demonstrations, design reviews, UAT readiness activities, and stakeholder feedback sessions.

• Support test teams by clarifying expected workflow behavior, usability expectations, acceptance conditions, and process-related defects.

• Identify opportunities for workflow simplification, automation, checklist automation, process standardization, and user adoption improvement.

• Maintain process models, UX notes, workflow documentation, AI/reporting support artifacts, and stakeholder feedback materials in approved repositories.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 5+ years of progressive experience in business process modeling, UX analysis, workflow design, business analysis, human-centered design, or process improvement for software or systems delivery.

• Experience documenting current-state and future-state workflows, process maps, use cases, user journeys, requirements, and stakeholder needs.

• Familiarity with BPMN 2.0, process modeling tools, workflow analysis, case management concepts, or low-code/no-code delivery approaches.

• Practical understanding of usability, accessibility, user-centered design, role-based workflows, and stakeholder validation methods.

• Experience working in Agile delivery environments with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, testers, and training/change management teams.

• Ability to translate complex business processes into clear workflow requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and implementation guidance.

• Familiarity with AI-enabled reporting, natural language generation concepts, configurable templates, data-driven reports, or automation use cases.

• Strong facilitation, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and Government customers.

• Ability to manage multiple workflow areas, stakeholder inputs, and documentation priorities in a remote environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

• Exposure to Federal, state, health, financial, or other regulated business environments is beneficial; Department of Veterans Affairs experience is a plus but not required.

• Familiarity with financial management, acquisition, budget, reporting, workflow, case management, or business process transformation is valued.

• Experience with Pega, low-code/no-code platforms, workflow automation, process modeling, RPA, AI-enabled reporting, or decision-support concepts is a plus.

• Working knowledge of usability, accessibility, human-centered design, stakeholder engagement, or workflow simplification is beneficial.

• Relevant BPM, UX, Agile, process improvement, human-centered design, or automation certifications are preferred, but not required.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
