The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Software Engineer to join our Space Mission Systems (SMS) MILSATCOM Ground Software team with our Global Satellite Configuration and Control Equipment (GSCCE) program in Colorado Springs, CO.

As a member of the GSCCE team, you will be involved with updating and modernizing the global military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) ground system that will manage the Boeing-built Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites Payloads for all F1-F12 satellites. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and development to the maintenance and support of the delivered system for our customers.

The Global Satellite Configuration and Control Equipment (GSCCE) is the operational command element for the Wideband Global SATCOM constellation. As the ground-based configuration and control system, it allocates high-capacity, secure bandwidth, manages satellite and network configurations, deploys software updates, and monitors system health and cybersecurity. By transforming a global fleet of satellites into an adaptive, resilient communications backbone, the GSCCE enables reliable, high-throughput connectivity for military and coalition forces worldwide.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain responsive applications using Java, Python, C++, React.js, HTML, CSS, and related technologies
  • Designs, develops, analyzes, documents, and maintains software systems that meet industry, customer and internal quality, safety, security and certification standards
  • Completes software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues and opportunities; integrates and deploys mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle
  • Performs code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards. Monitors and reviews test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root causes, recommend direction, and develop a solution to ensure optimal performance
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient code within the existing codebase, ensuring alignment with established architecture and coding standards
  • Advocating for improvements to product quality, security, and performance that have a particular impact on your team and others
  • Supporting junior engineering talent with mentorship or technical guidance
  • Excellent communication skills, working with end-users to design and build solutions to their needs, a habit of self-directed learning of new technologies, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environment


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of experience in Software Engineering
  • 2+ years of proven experience with Java, C++, Angular / React.js, HTML, and CSS languages
  • 2+ years proficiency with source code, version repository, testing API tools (ReadyAPI/SoapUI, SOAP, REST, etc.), microservices, Spring Boot framework, Virtualization
  • 2+ years of experience integrating and troubleshooting front-end and back-end software components, including supporting fix regardless of component


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experienced Level 3 / Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
  • 1+ years of experience with MILSATCOM systems
  • 1+ years' experience with cloud development environments
  • Familiarity with the WGS satellite constellation
  • Experience with open-source software development experience
  • Experience with fine tuning Kubernetes and the underlying host OS for optimal performance
  • Experience troubleshooting software and network integration during platform deployments
  • Experience with web socket programming experiencing
  • Able to work with ambiguity and can self-direct your work while guiding others and supporting project leadership activities
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices, along with experience supporting Government security requirements for software delivery involving system accreditation
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment utilizing Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or similar tools
  • Experience with Support program gates, such as the System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR)
  • Experience with verifying and performing analyses of the Technical Performance Measures (TPMs)

Summary pay range / Experienced: $126,650 - $171,350

Potential signing bonus for eligible/qualified external candidates.
