Job Description

T-Rex Solutions is looking to select a Data Engineer to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) EDOS program. The overall mission of this program is to modernize the IRS legacy Tax processing systems and is critical to the overall modernization of the IRS to improve taxpayer experience, increase voluntary compliance, and reduce the IRS's reliance on costly and unsustainable legacy technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Supports ECS/EAD (Enterprise Case Selection/Enterprise Anomaly Detection) data engineering efforts with a focus on automation and repeatable data processing workflows.
  • Builds automated data validation routines, ETL test harnesses, and monitoring scripts to ensure pipeline reliability, data integrity, and compliance with agency standards.
  • Implements ingestion and transformation components, integrates with cloud data services, and resolves pipeline defects through automated checks.
  • Collaborates with senior engineers, analysts, and cloud teams to ensure data flows are accurate, secure, and aligned with ECS/EAD modernization patterns.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience required. 4 additional years of experience required without a Bachelor's degree
  • US Citizenship required
  • Must possess an active IRS MBI Clearance and have current GFE
  • Experience with the following: Python, SQL, ETL/ELT development, Test automation for data pipelines, Data quality automation, API integration, Airflow or workflow orchestration, AWS/Azure data services, CI/CD, Git Logging/monitoring tools, Agile delivery, Data validation frameworks, Cloud security basics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with client stakeholders at all organizational and technical levels
  • Prior experience working on Agile teams

In compliance with pay transparency guidelines, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $94,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. T-Rex considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
