We are seeking an experienced Automation / 508 / Performance Test Engineer to support automated testing, Section 508/accessibility validation, performance/load testing, regression testing, and quality assurance for an enterprise SaaS modernization effort within the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role helps ensure that a Pega-based solution supporting PPBE, budget, acquisition, reporting, workflow, and auditability requirements is reliable, accessible, performant, secure, and ready for production use. The Automation / 508 / Performance Test Engineer works closely with functional testers, Pega engineers, data/integration resources, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, platform administrators, release managers, and Government stakeholders to build repeatable test coverage, validate accessibility and performance requirements, and support disciplined release readiness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts, regression test suites, performance test scripts, accessibility test procedures, and related QA artifacts.

• Support automated testing to improve repeatability, coverage, and efficiency across Agile sprints, regression cycles, and release candidates.

• Perform Section 508 and WCAG accessibility testing for application functionality, user interfaces, reports, forms, documents, workflows, and release updates.

• Support Accessibility Conformance Report/VPAT inputs, 508 testing documentation, defect tracking, remediation validation, and accessibility regression testing.

• Develop and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests based on expected usage patterns, transaction volumes, user roles, and system performance thresholds.

• Analyze performance results, identify bottlenecks, document degradation points, and support recommendations for tuning or remediation.

• Collaborate with functional testers to align automated and manual testing coverage across requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.

• Work with Pega engineers, platform administrators, and data/integration resources to troubleshoot performance, accessibility, regression, and automation defects.

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD or release management workflows where practical and approved.

• Maintain traceability between automated tests, requirements, defects, releases, performance results, and accessibility findings.

• Prepare test execution reports, 508 test logs, performance test results, remediation plans, QA metrics, and release readiness inputs.

• Participate in sprint planning, defect triage, release planning, configuration/change control reviews, and production readiness activities.

• Support continuous improvement of QA automation frameworks, accessibility testing methods, and performance validation practices.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 5+ years of progressive experience in QA automation, accessibility testing, performance testing, software testing, or technical quality assurance.

• Experience designing, developing, and executing automated regression tests, accessibility tests, and/or performance/load tests for enterprise applications.

• Familiarity with Section 508, WCAG 2.0/2.1 A/AA, assistive technologies, accessibility defects, VPAT/ACR support, and accessibility remediation validation.

• Experience with performance testing concepts such as workload modeling, response time, throughput, latency, stress testing, endurance testing, and bottleneck analysis.

• Experience using one or more tools or platforms to support test automation, performance testing, accessibility testing, defect tracking, test execution, or test management activities.

• Practical understanding of Agile testing, CI/CD support, regression testing, release readiness, defect triage, and test reporting.

• Ability to troubleshoot issues across UI, workflow, data, integration, browser, configuration, and environment layers.

• Strong analytical, documentation, reporting, and communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively with functional testers, developers, platform administrators, release managers, and Government stakeholders.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, accessibility, and user experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

• Exposure to Federal, state, health, financial, or other regulated IT delivery environments is beneficial; Department of Veterans Affairs experience is a plus but not required.

• Familiarity with SaaS platforms, workflow applications, case management systems, low-code/no-code platforms, or Pega applications is valued.

• Experience with accessibility testing, automated regression testing, performance/load testing, API testing, or test data validation is a plus.

• Working knowledge of VPAT/ACR support, Section 508, WCAG, CI/CD, release readiness, or defect remediation validation is beneficial.

• Relevant testing, accessibility, automation, performance, Agile, or quality assurance certifications are preferred, but not required.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
