Job Description
GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior DevOps Engineer to support ACC/A6 efforts on efforts to rapidly insert capability into the deployable communications network and systems. This position will be located in San Antonio, TX and will be a hybrid position.
Responsibilities
Deep expertise in infrastructure as code, platform automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure. This role will own the design, build, and lifecycle management of automated deployment and infrastructure workflows across cloud and hybrid environments, with limited but relevant exposure to Juniper Session Smart Router (SSR) and SD-WAN integrations where needed.

Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and maintain reusable infrastructure as code modules using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and related tooling for cloud and hybrid platforms.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines across Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins to support application, platform, and infrastructure delivery.
- Develop automated provisioning, configuration management, validation, and drift remediation workflows for compute, networking, and shared platform services.
- Standardize golden patterns for infrastructure deployment, policy as code, secrets handling, and environment promotion across development, test, and production.
- Implement automated testing for infrastructure changes, including unit, integration, pre-deployment, and post-deployment validation checks.
- Integrate logs, metrics, and telemetry into centralized observability platforms to improve performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and proactive incident detection.
- Partner with Cloud, Network, Security, and SRE teams to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure platform capabilities across multi-region environments.
- Develop self-service automation and internal tooling in Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell to reduce manual operational effort and improve deployment consistency.
- Support secure connectivity and network service integrations, including limited work with SSR-based environments where infrastructure automation intersects with SD-WAN operations.
- Participate in operational support, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement for infrastructure and delivery pipelines.
Qualifications
High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills and Experience
- Clearance Required: Active Secret with the ability to upgrade to TS/SCI
- 9+ years of hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer, System Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer in production environments.
- Proficiency in scripting or software development using Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux for declarative infrastructure and configuration delivery.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments with strong emphasis on automation, security, and repeatability.
- Solid understanding of Linux systems administration, container platforms, and Kubernetes-based environments.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, Splunk, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, VPN, load balancing, DNS, firewalls, and hybrid connectivity patterns.
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application delivery using modern DevOps tooling.
- Strong experience with one or more cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, including networking, identity, security, and private connectivity services.
- Strong experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Kustomize.
- Exposure to Juniper SSR or SD-WAN environments, especially where automation or orchestration is required.
- Familiarity with policy as code, secrets management, certificate management, and zero-trust security practices.
- Experience with platform engineering concepts such as reusable modules, developer self-service, internal platforms, and standardized landing zones.
- Relevant certifications in Terraform, Azure, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or related technologies are a plus.
