Position Overview
TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician to provide hands‑on support for mission‑critical wireless communications systems in a secure government environment. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of complex LMR and RF systems, including trunked radio systems, repeaters, microwave links, and air‑to‑ground communications.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned telecom professional with strong RF fundamentals, practical Motorola LMR experience, and the ability to maintain high system availability in an operational setting.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, program, tune, maintain, and troubleshoot Motorola trunked LMR systems
Support repeaters, duplexers, base stations, mobile and portable radios, antennas, consoles, servers, switches, and microwave systems
Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs to ensure 95% or greater system availability
Diagnose and resolve RF and mixed‑signal issues using industry test equipment
Conduct RF propagation modeling, interference analysis, microwave path analysis, and frequency coordination
Provide installation and sustainment support for radios in vehicles and facilities
Maintain accurate equipment accountability and work order documentation
Support secure radio infrastructure, including routers, switches, KMF systems, and patch management
Work independently and as part of a technical team in a secure, on‑site environment
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience supporting Land Mobile Radio (LMR) or RF/telecommunications systems
Hands‑on experience with Motorola trunked radio systems
Strong understanding of RF theory, antennas, modulation, and radio propagation
Experience using RF test and diagnostic equipment
Experience installing and supporting vehicle communication systems
Familiarity with networked radio environments (routers, switches, servers)
Ability to obtain required certifications within onboarding timelines
Active Secret security clearance
Ability to work fully on‑site in a secure environment
Preferred Skills
Motorola LMR certifications (7.11 or later)
Spectrum management experience (e.g., Spectrum XXI tools)
Experience with microwave and point‑to‑point radio systems
Background supporting public safety or government communications systems
Work Environment
Fully on‑site in a secure facility
Local movement across facilities and equipment locations; no regular travel
Long‑term, stable contract opportunity
