Job Position: Somali Cultural/Political Advisors

Location: Mogadishu, Somalia

Job Description:

Mission Essential is seeking a knowledgeable Somali Cultural /Political Advisor to provide expert guidance on cultural norms, social dynamics, and political context. The advisor will support operations by facilitating effective communication, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring cultural awareness in all engagements.

Somali Cultural/Political Advisors

• Advise/assist JSOTF-SOM Senior Leadership during interactions with the Federal Government of Somalia.
• Facilitate Somali to English and English to Somali language interpretation and translations.
• Apply knowledge of U.S military operations/policy and Somali culture/politics on a daily basis.
• Collaborate with United States and Somali Government personnel to research and support the preparation of reporting products associated with JSOTF-SOM Headquarters.
• Develop a thorough understanding of JSOTF-SOM campaign plans and military objectives. Utilize this knowledge to identify, evaluate, provide analysis, and advise on best practices. Analyze the needs and assist in defining opportunities for improvement as it relates to JSOTF-SOM ongoing interactions with the Federal Government of Somalia.

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

• Have a minimum of three years' work experience as a cultural advisor in Somalia
• Have active TS/SCI security clearance
• Have Interagency Language Roundtable level 3 proficiency in English and Somali
• Must be able to travel (estimate 10-20 trips per year approximately 5 days per trip)
• Must be able to work in austere environments
