Program Overview

This position supports the development of a next-generation modeling and simulation (M&S) framework for the Department of Defense. The program is an experimental effort with rapidly evolving requirements, requiring adaptability, innovation, and strong technical execution from the engineering team.

The team is building and deploying a modern software platform that leverages containerization, Kubernetes, automation, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps practices to support scalable and secure mission capabilities. While direct M&S experience is not required, we are looking for innovative, self-starting engineers who can adapt to a fast-paced, high-profile development effort and make an immediate impact.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with expertise in CI/CD automation to join our Modeling and Simulation development team. In this role, you will work closely with software developers, platform engineers, and cybersecurity professionals to design, build, secure, and maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

This position will focus on improving build and deployment automation, increasing release efficiency, integrating security and compliance checks, and helping ensure reliable software delivery across multiple environments. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys automating repetitive tasks, strengthening software delivery pipelines, and helping development teams move faster while maintaining security and reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support software build, test, scan, and deployment workflows.
  • Develop and manage GitLab CI/CD or similar automation pipelines.
  • Automate repetitive development, build, packaging, and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with software developers, platform engineers, and cybersecurity teams to improve release workflows.
  • Integrate automated security, compliance, and quality checks into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support containerized application build and deployment processes using tools such as Docker, Podman, or similar.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline, build, deployment, and environment-related issues across development and test environments.
  • Help improve software supply chain security and deployment reliability.
  • Support Agile development practices and participate in cross-functional technical planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, efficiency, security, and repeatability across the software delivery process.


Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, or related field.
  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Experience writing and managing pipeline configurations.
  • Experience automating build, test, scan, and deployment workflows.
  • Scripting experience for automation and operational tasks using Python, Bash, Go, or similar.
  • Experience implementing automated security and compliance checks within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience securing CI/CD pipelines and supporting software supply chain security practices.
  • Proficiency with Git and Git-based workflows.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments and cross-functional teams.


Desired Qualifications
  • Certified GitLab CI/CD Specialist or similar DevOps-related certification.
  • Security+, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist, or similar certification.
  • Containerization experience using Docker, Podman, or similar.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Helm-based deployments.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and the ELK stack.
  • Experience with Zero Trust architectures, SELinux, or hardened Linux distributions.
  • Familiarity with DoD security practices and software compliance requirements.
