Job Description

Duties

As a TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Serves as a Defense Transportation System (DTS and Joint Command and Control (C2) operations and systems information technology expert and primary information technology point of contact for integration of Joint command and control deployment/re-deployment and distribution planning and execution operations.
  • Serves as a technical transportation system expert, consultant and advisor for effective and efficient worldwide delivery of cargo and passengers for Department of Defense (DOD).
  • Plans and manages the deployment and operation of the Global Command and Control System-Joint on a daily, weekly, project, or longer basis.
  • Represents the command at various conferences, meetings and dealings with local high ranking officials, other DoD components, other Federal and State organizations, and commercial transportation officials concerning Joint command and control operation planning and execution, transportation, and logistics.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
  • This is a drug testing position. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-GS-13 if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the 12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Providing analytic and technical expertise, assistance and oversight for implementation, integration and ongoing maintenance and improvement of logistics capabilities.
  • Analyzing and resolving complex transportation issues and process improvements that enhance the program area.
  • Evaluating requirements and issues that are important to providing logistics information critical to force projection, sustainment, redeployment, and end-to-end visibility of the distribution pipeline.
  • Assisting management with all aspects with the mobility joint force provider for air refueling, air-lift and sea-lift.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
