This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-3 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.

- You will serve as a safety and occupational health specialist, in the safety branch (as code SPP143) at Naval Ordnance Test Unit, field activity of Strategic Systems Programs.
- You will serve as a technical authority and subject matter expert on all SOH programs, policies, and regulations from OSHA, DoD, Department of the Navy, and the Department of the Air/Space Force.
- You will develop, implement, and administer a comprehensive SOH program for the Command, ensuring consistent application and enforcement of all policies.
- You will advise senior leadership, supervisors, and employees on effective hazard controls and risk mitigation strategies to prevent mishaps and reduce injuries.
- You will prepare and deliver executive briefings and in-depth reports on program performance, trend analysis, and strategic safety objectives.
- You will plan and conduct independent, in-depth inspections, surveys, and evaluations of Command facilities, industrial work sites, and operations to identify and assess workplace hazards.
- You will analyze new and existing processes, equipment, and construction projects to proactively determine the existence and severity of potential hazards.
- You will evaluate work operations for compliance with all applicable safety standards, principles, and practices, recommending effective abatement actions and corrective procedures.
- You will direct immediate corrective actions in situations of imminent danger to control personnel exposure to hazards.
- You will lead formal investigations for reportable mishaps, including those involving serious injury or significant property damage.
- You will utilize advanced techniques to investigate incidents, obtain witness statements, analyze causal factors, and determine root causes.
- You will compile, analyze, and interpret mishap data to identify trends and develop data-driven recommendations and programs to prevent recurrence.
- You will develop, coordinate, and deliver a comprehensive safety education and training program for all personnel, including supervisors and division safety representatives.
- You will create and present formal training sessions, workshops, and safety campaigns on a wide range of topics, such as hazard communication, personal protective equipment, and mishap prevention.
