Duties
The mission of US Central Command (USCENTCOM) is: With national and international partners, USCENTCOM promotes cooperation among nations, responds to crises, deters or defeats state and non-state aggression, and supports development and when necessary, reconstruction in order to establish the conditions for regional security, stability and prosperity. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities that ensure Command Forward Headquarters (CFH), Central Command Headquarters Commandant organization (CFH-CCHC) complies with legal and regulatory requirements, meets customer needs and command group directives. Serve as the Deputy to the CFH Commandant. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Represents United States Central Command / CENTCOM Forward Headquarters with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Provide direct CFH government oversight and management of the CFH Safety, Emergency Management, and Escort Programs. Assist CENTCOM CCJ1 by providing on-site CFH oversight and management of functions that CCJ1 is the overall HQ USCENTCOM Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR).

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of Unified Combatant Command, Joint Service, and Military Department specialized practices, methods, techniques, structure, political and public sensitivities, inspection requirements, and operations. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Comprehensive knowledge of military organizational structure, supporting elements, programs, missions, policies, goals, and philosophies and the relation of the various military entities involved in the overall planning and execution of military operations.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Unified Combatant Command, Joint Service, and Military Department specialized practices, methods, techniques, structure, political and public sensitivities, inspection requirements, and operations.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of military organizational structure, supporting elements, programs, missions, policies, goals,
and philosophies and the relation of the various military entities involved in the overall planning and execution of military operations.
4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Skilled ability to plan, organize, supervise, and utilize communication techniques sufficient to prepare presentations and briefings based on Unified Combatant Command organizational position on a broad range issue including training, regulatory changes effecting operations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Continued Conditions of Employment
- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.
- This is a Term position NTE 31 MAY 2027; the individual selected for this position may be extended without further competition. Current Federal civilian employees may apply for this position using "Reinstatement" eligibility and if selected, a break in service of at least 3 calendar days may be required prior to appointment to this position.
- "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
