Position Overview
The NGB-J8 is leading the effort for National Guard (NG) Joint Staff (JS) engagement in strategic planning for joint NGB resources and capabilities. NGB J-8 manages the NGB Joint capabilities development processes, to include the validation of new NG joint capabilities in the Joint Capability Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process and the coordinated implementation and reporting of new validated joint capabilities through the National Guard Requirements Oversight Council (NGROC).

NGB J-8 conducts Operations Research and Systems Analysis (ORSA), Joint Experimentation (JE), war gaming, concept development, model exploration and development, and innovation.

Essential Job Function
Provides expert analysis and support fostering integration of NG and DoD innovation efforts. Collaborates across "the 54" and NG, to include NG Innovation Hubs, to synthesize insights on innovation, technology, and experimentation and form recommendations. Supports preparation and execution of NG Innovation-related meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Secret Clearance (Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Preferred
  • MA/MS Degree; Intermediate Level PME Graduate
  • Capacity to develop and maintain networks across a diverse space including military, civilian, academic, and other organizations
  • MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) - ETMS2 proficiency
  • OSD; Joint Staff, Service HQ, or NGB action officer experience participating in analysis, coordination, planning, writing, and presenting at the executive level in a senior level organization; former field grade Army/Air Force Officer, NG preferred
  • Experience with innovation-related activities and hubs within the NG
  • Familiarity with the DoD Innovation and the Joint Force Development, Design, and Experimentation enterprises
