The United States Space Force (USSF) at Cape Canaveral SFS, FL is searching for an Information Technology Specialist to support the 5 SLS (GS-2210-11).
Description:
Are you an IT professional passionate about ensuring that critical systems are always running at peak performance? The 5th Space Launch Squadron is seeking a dedicated Information Technology Specialist to join our team as the primary customer interface for all communications, computer, command, and control (C4) systems. In this role, you will be the cornerstone of our IT operations, ensuring the stability, integrity, and security of the operating systems that support our nation's space launch capabilities.

Ideal Candidate:
-- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with operating systems software principles, practices, and lifecycle management.
-- Proven ability in providing technical assistance for IT operating systems, including the installation, configuration, testing, and implementation of new hardware and software.
-- Experience in monitoring system performance, fine-tuning system components, and implementing security/information assurance policies.
-- Proficiency in developing and maintaining test environments, creating test data, and performing validation testing of hardware and software.
-- Experience serving as a technical liaison for contractor-delivered systems, including reviewing technical specifications and evaluating vendor proposals.
- Skills and Abilities:
-- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical issues and resolve integration or configuration challenges across different platforms.
-- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to provide technical support, create user documentation, deliver training, and coordinate with diverse teams, customers, and vendors.
-- Ability to work independently, manage projects, and make sound judgments on technical and operational matters.

- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
- This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
- Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- PCS / relocation funding is not authorized.
- Information assurance certification is a condition of employment:
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
