Job Description
Blu Omega is seeking a Junior Application Developer to support one of our clients while contributing to enterprise systems operations and modernization efforts. This role supports the development, enhancement, and maintenance of mission-critical applications that enable regulatory, scientific, and operational workflows.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer to gain hands-on experience in a complex federal environment, working across a diverse technology stack that includes both legacy systems and modern platforms, while leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery speed, code quality, and testing.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications supporting the client's mission needs
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into functional software solutions
- Assist in designing, coding, testing, and debugging applications across the full development lifecycle
- Support modernization efforts by contributing to system enhancements and platform transitions
- Collaborate with developers, database administrators, analysts, and stakeholders across the program
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Work with Oracle databases to support application functionality and data integrity
- Troubleshoot application issues and support ongoing maintenance and performance improvements
- Document technical designs, processes, and system changes
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools for code generation, debugging, prompt-based problem solving, and automated unit testing
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in application development or software engineering
- Experience with Java or similar object-oriented programming language
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases (Oracle preferred)
- Basic understanding of web application development concepts
- Experience using modern IDEs (for example VS Code) and AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar)
- Working knowledge of prompt-based workflows for code generation, debugging, and testing using large language models (for example Claude, Gemini, or OpenAI models)
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Exposure to federal health or regulatory systems
- Familiarity with application modernization efforts
Salary Range: $85K- $95K
