Position Overview
Strategic Resilience Group is seeking a cleared Farsi Linguist and Iranian Cultural Advisor to support U.S. military operations at Camp Xiphos, Jordan. This role requires a highly skilled linguist and cultural subject matter expert with deep understanding of Iranian culture, politics, religious and ethnic groups, social media trends, and regional influence dynamics.
The selected candidate will provide translation, interpretation, cultural advisement, media analysis, and subject matter expertise in support of operational planning, engagements, and information-related activities across the USCENTCOM area of responsibility.
This is an on-site deployed position located on a secure U.S. military compound in Jordan. The assignment is unaccompanied and may require shift work, extended hours, and deployment periods ranging from 180 to 365 days.
Key Responsibilities
Provide subject matter expertise on Iranian culture, politics, social media, regime influence, religious groups, ethnic groups, and influential moderate voices.
Support efforts related to countering extremist activity through cultural, linguistic, and regional analysis.
Provide support to key leader engagement events conducted in the USCENTCOM AOR with U.S. and allied partners.
Translate, interpret, transcribe, and analyze oral and written materials, including reports, data, briefings, media, and conversations.
Provide written and oral translations while preserving the meaning, tone, intent, and context of the original source material.
Conduct media analysis and cultural advisement to support actionable intelligence and operational products.
Provide interpretation between Farsi and English in operational, briefing, and working group environments.
Research source-language materials and produce command-level information papers.
Support USCENTCOM, interagency, and coalition working groups as an Iranian cultural advisory SME.
Provide objective, unbiased, and logical cultural advisement to military and government stakeholders.
Support document exploitation, transliteration, transcription, translation, and interpretation requirements.
Maintain familiarity with specialized terminology, regional customs, symbolism, traditions, and cultural context throughout the CENTCOM AOR.
Work extended hours and support operational requirements as needed.
Required Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
U.S. Citizenship.
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Studies, Anthropology, Communications, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
Additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Minimum of 5 years of prior experience supporting U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. government agencies.
Recognized subject matter expertise in Iranian culture, politics, regime influence, social media, religious groups, ethnic groups, and regional dynamics.
Minimum language testing scores of 4/4/4 or higher in English and 5/5/5 in Farsi dialect.
Willingness and ability to deploy for 180 to 365 days to Camp Xiphos, Jordan.
Valid U.S. passport with at least one year remaining before expiration.
Ability to meet Jordanian visa requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong listening skills and attention to detail.
Ability to brief and present to small and large groups.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work in a deployed environment and support extended or shift-based schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Information Operations, MISO, or related operational units in the Middle East or Southwest Asia.
Additional language capability in Dari, Pashto, or Arabic at comparable proficiency levels.
Recent regional experience, residence, or travel related to Iran or the broader CENTCOM AOR.
Experience working with USCENTCOM, interagency, coalition, or deployed military teams.
