Security Engineering Lead
The Security Engineering Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise security solutions across complex environments. This role provides technical leadership, oversees security engineering activities, and ensures alignment with federal regulations, organizational policies, and emerging security best practices. The Security Engineering Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise security solutions across complex environments. This role provides technical leadership, oversees security engineering activities, and ensures alignment with federal regulations, organizational policies, and emerging security best practices. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As the Security Engineering Lead, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the organization's networks, systems, and mission-enabling technologies. You will lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of security controls that protect sensitive data and ensure resilient operations across a complex enterprise environment. You will:
- Drive the deployment, monitoring, and optimization of advanced security solutions including firewalls, NAC, IDS/IPS, SIEM technologies, and secure communication systems that fortify the organization's defenses.
- Guide the evaluation of new technologies, shape security engineering standards, and ensure compliance with federal frameworks such as NIST, FISMA, and Common Criteria.
- Provide technical leadership across project lifecycles-troubleshooting issues, supporting system owners, and delivering clear, actionable reporting that strengthens enterprise security posture.
- Bring a passion for securing large-scale, mission-critical networks through proactive architecture, rigorous testing, and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Active Secret clearance required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in security administration, systems security, or security engineering support. Strong working knowledge of security services and architecture, networking technologies and protocols, and security policies and consulting practices
- Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to learn and support new systems and applications quickly.
- Minimum certifications: A+, Security+, or Network+
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with network-based IDS/IPS technologies and operational modes
- Experience preparing technical papers, reports, and formal briefings
- Self-starter with excellent judgment, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks effectively
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems independently and collaboratively
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity or a related field preferred.
- Previous or Current CBP Background Investigation desired.
- Minimum required A+, Security+ or Network+
- CISSP certification preferred.
