Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer to support data transformation and migration efforts across enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) historical order, customer, and reference data from legacy systems into modern platforms such as ServiceNow.
This role requires deep expertise in SQL development, data mapping, and transformation processes. The candidate will work closely with project stakeholders to analyze data alignment rules, resolve exceptions, and ensure accurate and efficient data migration. Responsibilities include executing SQL/JDBC queries, developing transform maps, and validating data integrity across development, test, and production environments.
The position demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support mission-critical data initiatives.
Responsibilities
Data Transformation & Migration: Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) to align legacy data with target system requirements.
Query Development & Optimization: Edit and optimize government-provided SQL queries to meet size limitations and formatting requirements.
Technical Implementation: Configure, test, and execute SQL/JDBC queries from ServiceNow to import data into development, test, production, and sandbox environments.
Validation & Analysis: Verify successful data imports, analyze results against system specifications, and identify mapping gaps or transformation issues.
Transform Map Development: Create and manage transform maps to load data into target tables within ServiceNow.
Data Handling: Execute XML export/import transformations and manage Excel data files for structured data imports.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain reports and controls to track successful transformations, exceptions, and data integrity metrics.
Collaboration: Work with project teams to discuss progress, technical challenges, and overall data migration strategies.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of experience in database engineering, data migration, or related fields
Programming: Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with JDBC connections
Technology Stack: Experience with ServiceNow data imports, transform maps, and database integration processes
Data Management: Ability to assess table structures, data relationships, and manage large datasets effectively
Process Execution: Experience with ETL processes, data validation, and transformation logic
Technical Skills: Experience configuring interfaces and managing security settings related to data access
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field
Clearance Requirement: Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
