Job Description

The mission of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado (USAO) is to prosecute and defend cases on behalf of the federal government. The USAO requires two Paralegal positions to support the Civil Division and assist permanent office staff as assigned.

2.0 Background

The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Colorado, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, requires contractor support for its civil litigation mission. The Paralegal contractor will support the office in representing the federal government in civil cases filed in the District of Colorado.

3.0 Scope of Work

The contractor shall serve as a Paralegal in the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Colorado, supporting Assistant United States Attorneys in the Civil Division. The Paralegal will assist with civil matters filed against the federal government in the District of Colorado and will perform a wide range of litigation support duties, including research, case organization, deadline tracking, pleading preparation, document review, exhibit preparation, and other tasks necessary to support the government’s litigation efforts.

3.1 Required Services

The Paralegal shall perform services including, but not limited to, the following:

Review and organize large volumes of emails and other documents.
Create, maintain, and use spreadsheets and databases.
Gather factual information and supporting materials, including agency records, court records, and other public records.
Read, analyze, and summarize court pleadings, court orders, transcripts, case files, and other factual materials, and draft memoranda as needed.
Coordinate with federal agencies to locate and organize information and ensure compliance with court orders.
Conduct factual and legal research as required and prepare memoranda.
Provide litigation support to attorneys in connection with briefs, presentations, and hearings, including the use of software applications, scanners, and graphics hardware.
Prepare documents, exhibits, charts, and visual materials.
Provide technical support such as enlarging charts and photographs, duplicating audio/video materials, and marking exhibits.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
