Deputy Chief of Staff
Echo Five Group (EFG) seeks an experienced and highly motivated Deputy Chief of Staff to provide contract support to the Department of the Navy’s Office of Civilian Human Resources (OCHR). This onsite role at the Washington Navy Yard plays a key part in enabling mission-support functions and supporting senior leadership. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, proactive, and calm under pressure, with strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the Navy’s civilian workforce enterprise, often engaging directly with executives and high-level decision-makers in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
This position requires an active Secret clearance and the ability to work onsite in Washington, DC.

What You’ll Do
Provide administrative assistant support to Manpower, Analytics, and HR Systems (MAHRS) leadership.
- Manage complex calendars for senior leaders, schedule and prioritize meetings, and coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual engagements.
- Arrange travel, conference calls, and events, ensuring all details are confirmed and documented.
- Draft, format, and proofread official correspondence, memos, presentations, and briefing materials for Director and senior leadership signatures.
- Contribute to improving office processes by identifying gaps, suggesting efficiencies, and updating SOPs or checklists.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong understanding of Department of the Navy (DON) organizational structure, processes, and terminology.
- Familiarity with Navy-specific acronyms, systems, and reporting requirements.
- Prior experience supporting DON or other Department of Defense (DoD) clients preferred.
- Experience supporting senior leaders (e.g., executives, SES, flag/general officers, or equivalent) in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for senior audiences.
- Exceptional organizational skills and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and judgment when handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Comfort working independently, taking initiative, and anticipating needs without requiring constant direction.
- Strong proficiency with common office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office/365, Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint).
Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Possess and apply comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments.
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Experience working independently with minimal supervision and guidance.
- Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, etc.
