Information Specialist
The Information Specialist must be friendly, courteous, and articulate, and conduct themselves in a professional business manner. Proficiency in English and verbal and written skills are essential. The staff shall provide a high level of customer service during all interactions.
The Information Specialist must demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and independently. Information about the Agency is complex and covers many scientific and federal issues. The Information Specialist shall be able to read and interpret materials available in the Visitor Center, ID Card Office, or DAS Reception workspaces.
The Information Specialist will be at the forefront to greet and provide visitor credentials for NSF access and assist those who may have additional questions or concerns.
The Information Specialist will provide staff coverage of the DAS service desk, Monday through Friday. Greet and direct visitors in and around the DAS suite; direct walk-in requests for services to the correct DAS personnel. Answer calls to the central DAS telephone service line and assist customers in receiving the services requested by routing the requests to the correct personnel. Monitor all DAS service email accounts and assist customers in timely receipt of services requested by routing the requests to the correct personnel. Sort and distribute mail delivered to the DAS suite. Direct deliveries made to the DAS suite. Conduct data entry for various automated systems, as directed. Assist DAS staff with on-site engagement events, as needed, including venue set up and break down. No heavy lifting is required.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Strong written and oral communications skills and be capable of dealing with the public and large groups of people.
Experience using personal computers with Windows-based operating systems.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Proficiency with the internet
Customer service experience, be detail-oriented, and foster team interaction.
Basic Qualifications:
Associate degree in hospitality, Business, Security, or 1-2 years of vocational technical training or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred, but not required.
1-2 years of experience in customer service
