- As Supervisory Public Safety Dispatcher, administers emergency services communications operations in the 911 Dispatch Center.
- Assigns work and special duties for dispatchers, call takers and Lead Dispatchers.
- Plans work schedules, revises schedule to meet peak workload periods, and manpower shortages.
- Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls.
- Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the computer aided dispatch, AVL/Global Positioning System (GPS), and become familiar with the Fort Hood mass notification system being utilized through the Monaco fire system.
- Maintains reports and retrieves needed statistical information using the local authority's fire incident reporting system(s).
- Performs basic computer and communications equipment troubleshooting to determine problem and notify appropriate personnel to facilitate repairs.
- Assists various agencies with required testing and maintenance, including fire drills, electronic detection devices, fire suppression equipment, duress alarms, intrusions alarms, generator runs etc.
- Provides advice and guidance to dispatchers for Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System (ICIDS) to include assessments involved with the functions of the documentation reviews, systems testing, systems upgrades, etc.
- Provides electronic paging services as requested from either the operator interface terminal for digital or voice paging or the networked computer terminal for alphanumeric message notification.
- Operates the facility wide and area public address system to convey official information, announcements or emergency notifications.

- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Telecommunication II certification.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) and National Crime Information (NCIC) training.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness certification.
- This position requires the incumbent to maintain Continuing Dispatch Education (CDE) requirements.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
- Position is subject to recall to duty, and incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone at their residence to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
