Software Tester
Location: San Antonio, TX.

Job Description:
We are seeking an EntryâLevel Software Tester to support quality assurance activities for a federally sponsored fullâstack application used to support missionâcritical operations. This role focuses on manual testing of webâbased applications, RESTful services, and user interfaces developed in accordance with federal standards, policies, and security requirements.
The Software Tester will work within a structured Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) environment and collaborate with developers, system engineers, project managers, and government stakeholders to ensure delivered software meets functional, usability, performance, accessibility, and compliance requirements prior to release into controlled environments.
This position does not require test automation, but exposure to automation tools or concepts is considered a plus.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform manual functional, regression, and integration testing of federally deployed applications.
- Validate application functionality against approved system requirements, design specifications, and user stories.
- Test graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for usability, navigation, and compliance with federal usability and accessibility standards.
- Conduct manual testing of RESTful APIs, verifying expected responses, data integrity, and error handling.
- Validate system behavior related to backâend logic, data processing, and database interactions.
- Identify, document, and track defects using authorized defect tracking and ticketing systems.
- Support testing activities for preâproduction, staging, and production releases in coordination with release management teams.
- Perform regression testing following enhancements, patches, and defect remediation.
- Review requirements and technical documentation to assist in development of test scenarios and expected outcomes.
- Assist in maintaining test artifacts, including test cases, test scripts, execution results, and traceability documentation.
- Support complianceârelated testing efforts, including documentation needed for audits, reviews, or governance checkpoints.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience).
- Basic understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), particularly within a regulated or government environment.
- Familiarity with manual software testing methodologies and QA best practices.
- Ability to test webâbased applications and userâfacing features.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures and standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly for defect documentation and status reporting.
- Ability to work in a structured, processâdriven environment.
Desired Skills:
- Exposure to federal IT environments, government systems, or governmentâcontracted projects.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and basic API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger).
- Basic understanding of database concepts and data validation.
- Exposure to Section 508 accessibility requirements or accessibility testing concepts.
- Awareness of security and compliance principles (e.g., NIST, secure coding/testing concepts).
- Exposure to test automation concepts or tools (handsâon experience not required).
