Job Description
Title: Senior Platform Engineer
Clearance Required: Active Top Secret (TS) on Day 1 (TS/SCI eligible strongly preferred)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Perm, Full-Time
Location: Remote (CONUS) with required SCIF/JWICS access
Travel: Up to 25%
Compensation: $185,000 – $240,000 base salary (commensurate with clearance, certifications, and experience) with eligibility for equity participation.
DHI Group is recruiting on behalf of a defense-focused client seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to support DoD classified cloud environments (IL5/IL6, JWICS). This role blends deep platform engineering with direct customer engagement, supporting secure, mission-critical systems used by government stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and operate secure cloud-native platforms in AWS GovCloud (IL5/IL6)
Own infrastructure lifecycle, including IaC, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, and compliance
Implement and maintain security controls aligned with NIST 800-53, STIGs, FIPS 140-3, and FedRAMP High
Support ATO activities, SSP inputs, evidence collection, and POA&M remediation
Engage directly with government customers through TIMs, architecture reviews, and technical briefings
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to mission partners in classified environments
Required Qualifications:
Active Top Secret (TS) clearance (verifiable)
7+ years of platform, infrastructure, or cloud engineering experience
Hands-on AWS GovCloud experience (IL5 or IL6)
Strong experience with Terraform/CDK, Kubernetes or ECS, Linux, and secure networking
Proven client-facing experience with government or defense customers
Required Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
AWS Certified Security – Specialty
DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II (Security+ or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications:
TS/SCI clearance
DoD 8570 IAT Level III (CASP+, CISSP)
FedRAMP High ATO experience
JWICS, C2S, or SC2S operational experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills in classified settings
