SUPERVISORY EMERGENCY SERVICES DISPATCHER

Duties
Help

• You will establish work assignments, ensuring automated system is functioning properly and coordinating dispatch responsibilities to promote expedient and appropriate response by emergency personnel.
• You will supervise and plans the work to be accomplished by a subordinate staff of emergency dispatchers and the IDS personnel.
• You will provide guidance to employees when questions arise regarding dispatch notifications, radio, or telephone procedures, or conflicting guidance regarding dispatch operations.
• You will review and annotate erroneous information obtained in the emergency recall rosters, unit key personnel roster, and notifications point of contacts.
• You will develop professional relationships by personal contact, telephone, radio, writing as well as in person with civilian and military personnel throughout the base; receives reports of emergencies and requesting or giving assistance.
• You will identify all training which directly impacts the operations of the Enhanced 9-11 system, radio communications system, multichannel base station, tone alerting systems, IDS Alarm Systems and the CAD.

• Must be certified to train all dispatchers to DoD standards and on VCIN/NCIC computers.
• Must possess and maintain a current CPR Certification.
• Must retain Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification.
• Must have Telecommunications I and II Certifications.
• Must have Hazardous Materials Awareness training and certification
• Must have State of Virginia Dispatch Certifications from Virginia's Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS). The incumbent is required to obtain and then maintain the certification within the first year of employment.
• Work is generally a 40 hour a week schedule but may require irregular hours, nights, weekend, shift and holiday work scheduling.
• This is a Key Essential position.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing guidance concerning dispatching processes (e.g. police, firefighting, emergency, medical, etc.); making recommendations regarding alarm response and police dispatching; planning, scheduling, assigning, and/or directing daily operations in an emergency communications center.
