Job Type: Full-Time (W-2)
Clearance: Active Top Secret with SCI Eligibility (Required)
Mission:
Support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in building secure, mission-critical software systems within classified environments. This role directly contributes to advanced national defense programs requiring TS/SCI-cleared engineering talent.
What You’ll Work On:
• Full-stack development of secure, classified DoD applications (frontend, backend, integrations)
• System architecture, design, and deployment in TS/SCI environments
• Integration across enterprise systems, APIs, and data platforms
• Performance optimization for high-reliability, mission-critical systems
• Implementation of DevSecOps practices and secure coding standards
• Troubleshooting across distributed, multi-language systems
• Agile development and rapid prototyping in classified settings
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications in classified environments
• Write secure, maintainable code aligned with DoD cybersecurity standards
• Manage source code using Git/version control systems
• Debug and resolve complex, system-level issues across environments
• Develop and maintain system architecture and technical documentation
• Collaborate with engineers, program leadership, and mission stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with RMF and DoD cybersecurity requirements
• Participate in code reviews and enforce engineering best practices
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows in secure environments
Required Qualifications (Must Have):
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI or TS eligible for SCI)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field
• 5+ years of full-stack software development experience
• 2+ years of Java development experience
• Experience with XML and data integration
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments
• Experience building secure, scalable, high-performance systems
• Strong system design and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work on-site in a classified TS/SCI environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting DoD, Air Force, or AFRL programs
• Familiarity with classified networks such as SIPRNet and JWICS
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automation pipelines
• Containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure GovCloud)
• Frontend experience with modern frameworks (React, Angular)
Work Environment:
• 100% on-site at Hanscom AFB, MA
• Work conducted within secure TS/SCI facilities
