Job Description
The Senior Director of Business Development for Navy Programs at M1 Support Services is responsible for leading and executing business development initiatives that support the company’s growth objectives within the defense and aerospace sectors.
This role focuses on identifying and capturing new business opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting strategic growth priorities. Working in close coordination with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, the Senior Director will contribute to the development and execution of business development strategies, oversee capture efforts, and help position M1 Support Services as a competitive and trusted partner across targeted markets.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Business Development Strategy & Execution
• Support the development and implementation of business development strategies aligned with corporate growth objectives.
• Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within defense, aerospace, and government services markets.
• Maintain and expand relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
Market Analysis & Opportunity Identification
• Conduct ongoing market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
• Analyze federal contracting environments, acquisition strategies, and policy changes impacting opportunities.
• Develop actionable strategies to position M1 for upcoming opportunities and recompetes.
Capture Management & Proposal Support
• Lead or support capture activities for strategic opportunities, including win strategy development and customer engagement.
• Coordinate with proposal teams to develop compliant, compelling, and competitive responses to RFPs and RFIs.
• Support pricing, teaming, and solution development efforts to strengthen proposal quality and win probability.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customers and accounts.
• Build and sustain long-term relationships with government representatives, industry partners, and stakeholders.
• Support customer visits, industry days, and networking engagements to enhance market presence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with operations, finance, contracts, and technical teams to align business development activities with operational capabilities.
• Ensure clear communication of opportunity pipelines, priorities, and capture strategies. Support transition planning from capture to program execution upon contract award.
Performance Metrics & Reporting
• Track and report on pipeline development, capture progress, and business development performance metrics.
• Maintain accurate and current data within CRM and opportunity tracking systems.
• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on opportunities, risks, and growth projections. Team Leadership & Development
• Provide guidance and mentorship to business development and capture personnel, as applicable.
• Support the development of a high-performing, collaborative team environment.
• Promote continuous improvement in processes, tools, and business development practices.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) is preferred.
Experience
• Minimum of 20 years of experience in business development, capture management, program management, or related roles.
May include equivalent roles from previous government service.
• At least 3–5 years of experience supporting or leading business development efforts within the defense or aerospace sectors.
• Demonstrated experience supporting successful contract captures and revenue growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong understanding of federal contracting processes, acquisition lifecycle, and compliance requirements. Proven ability to identify, qualify, and pursue business opportunities in a competitive environment.
• Strong relationship-building and customer engagement skills focused specifically on the Navy Customer Ability to develop and execute capture strategies and support proposal development.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
• Proficiency with CRM systems and business development tools.
Working Conditions:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to access and navigate facilities, including military installations and field locations.
• Travel up to 30–40% may be required.
