Support mission-critical distributed training environments-enabling the U.S. Air Force's Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) network to deliver large-scale, high-fidelity combat training in a global virtual battlespace.
A Day in the Life - What you'll do
- Monitor and maintain health of critical network infrastructure and enterprise systems supporting Distributed Mission Operations (DMO).
- Perform daily operations support including system maintenance, patching, updates, and ticket resolution.
- Conduct incident response activities including troubleshooting, escalation, communication, and reporting.
- Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to review, prioritize, and execute engineering and operational support tasks.
- Support cybersecurity and compliance efforts by assisting with system security assessments and validation activities.
- Implement process improvements and system optimizations in coordination with program leadership.
- Administer enterprise environments leveraging virtualization, patch management, and endpoint management tools.
- Analyze system performance, logs, and monitoring data to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Maintain and support Windows-based server and desktop environments within large-scale infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain scripts for automation and system administration tasks.
- Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational processes.
- Support large-scale distributed environments in fast-paced, mission-critical settings.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline (Computer Science, Information Systems, Modeling & Simulation, Physics, Math, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering)
- Level 2: 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in lieu of experience
- Level 3: 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience
- Active DoD Secret security clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR
- Must possess or obtain within 6 months a DoD 8140 IAT Level II or higher certification (Security+, CySA+, CISSP, or equivalent)
- Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), including application packaging, deployment, patch management, OS imaging, and compliance baselines
- Experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), including configuration, synchronization, and enterprise patch management integration
- Experience administering VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, including VM provisioning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring
- Strong experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022/2025) and Windows 11 environments
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy (GPOs), and file/print services
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash
- Experience with system monitoring tools and log analysis
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and develop effective solutions
- Strong documentation skills with ability to clearly communicate technical concepts
- Ability to work in fast-paced, large-scale enterprise environments
- Ability to travel up to 10% as required
- Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), including certificate lifecycle management
- Experience with Ansible for automation, configuration management, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Experience administering Microsoft Exchange (on-premises or hybrid environments), including mail flow and high availability
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows across Windows and Linux environments
- Experience supporting large-scale DoD or mission-critical distributed systems
