Audiovisual (AV) Systems Engineer (Level 2 / Level 3 / Level 4)
Location: Herndon, VA
Clearance Required: Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance (must be active within the past 24 months); ability to obtain SCI post-start
Position Overview
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a skilled Audiovisual (AV) Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and deployment of complex, multi-classification AV solutions for government customers. This role involves end-to-end ownership, from requirements gathering and system design through installation, testing, and commissioning, while maintaining direct customer engagement.
Candidates may be considered at Level 2, Level 3, or Level 4, depending on experience.

Required Qualifications
Security Clearance
- Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance (active within past 24 months qualifies)
- Ability to obtain SCI access post-start
Experience (by Level)
- Level 2:
- 1+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 3:
- 3+ years of systems design and integration experience or equivalent
- Level 4:
- 5+ years of systems design and integration experience or equivalent
Core Experience
- Setup, installation, and support of large-scale audiovisual systems
- Coordinating or leading schedule-driven tasks
- Direct customer interaction and support
Key Responsibilities
- Survey, plan, design, configure, and test multi-classification AV systems tailored to government environments
- Create custom AV system designs, including DSP programming and system configurations
- Participate in stakeholder meetings to gather, document, and validate requirements
- Research and recommend technology solutions aligned with mission needs
- Develop engineering documentation, including:
- Signal flow diagrams
- Line diagrams
- Bills of materials (BOMs)
- Rack elevations
- Cable plant layouts
- Support and lead on-site installations and system configurations
- Collaborate with facility teams, subcontractors, and vendors
- Conduct in-house system testing and perform on-site commissioning
- Develop end-user training materials and operations & maintenance plans
- Stay current with AV technologies through training, certifications, and industry research

- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving to design custom AV solutions
- Familiarity with commercial AV software platforms and ability to modify out-of-the-box solutions
- Experience with AV design tools and drawing set creation (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience working in classified or government environments

- Familiarity with secure facility (SCIF) AV requirements
