Job Description
The Advanced Missions Group (AMG) converts MRC's customer relationships and mission understanding into opportunities to rapidly design, prototype, and transition mission-relevant solutions that accelerate MRC's focused growth as a large business. Engineers in the AMG perform conceptual and quantitative analyses to assess the feasibility of select concepts and capabilities relating to manned and unmanned platforms, and other payloads and systems relating to MRC's core undersea warfare competencies. Work will primarily occur in-person in Middletown, RI with periodic travel for test support and stakeholder technical exchanges (if necessary to support task execution). This position reports directly to the AMG Manager and/or established Cross Functional Team (CFT) leads (as applicable).
An AMG Engineer will be responsible for coordinating, executing, and/or evaluating the required technical evidence (e.g., analysis, modeling, research, performance analysis) associated with determining the viability of proposed initiatives prior to and immediately following CFT approval. They make assessments, decisions, and plans focused on delivering warfighting capabilities via emerging undersea technologies. They are ideally a subject matter expert in a specific technical area, comfortable with complex problem resolution, and able to identify and apply needed resources for rapid solutions development.
This position is evolutionary and has the option to grow into an AMG Lead Engineer position. In that role, the ideal candidate will provide technical, engineering and analytical oversight to the CFT portfolio, advising the AMG Manager and aligning critical technical functions and needed capabilities between CFTs.
Job Requirements
Qualified applicants will have a strong background in problem-solving and analytical skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to rapidly assess a problem, reliable to deliver on time, quick thinking, and be able to balance the requirements of multiple stakeholders. They should preferably be familiar with systems engineering practices, providing programmatic support to decision-makers at various levels, and the operation of undersea systems.
REQUIREMENTS
• For Engineer III: Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years experience, preferably in an engineering discipline. 3 or more years of additional relevant experience from military or private sector may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree. Higher level degrees will be considered for relevancy in lieu of required experience.
• Excellent communications skills and the ability to work independently and/or with members of integrated project teams in the accomplishment of technical task objectives.
• Experience developing and executing or reviewing technical studies, analysis, or design activities in their technical field
• Active US Department of Defense Secret clearance, with an ability to be eligible for a Top Secret Clearance (if required for specific tasking)
