Duties
As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) TITLE 5, GS-2210-12, you will serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems, networks and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools.

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 5 Excepted Service, will be in the following manner and sequence:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : GS-12 LEVEL - MUST possess the specialized experience, training, or education which includes 1-year at the lower-level GS-11 (or equivalent), involving development, delivery, management, and support of information technology systems and services; experience ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) TITLE 5, GS-2210-12, you will serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems, networks and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools.
- Serves as a technical expert and focal point for Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, certification and accreditation.
- Provides advice and assistance regarding security aspects of processing, storage, retrieval, transmission, and access of classified and unclassified information.
- Administers and monitors installation compliance with all applicable DoD, USAF, National Guard Bureau (NGB) and Air National Guard (ANG) Information Assurance regulations and policies.
- Administers and maintains the organization certification & accreditation process for assigned SCIF(s) using the Risk Management Framework (RMF), and coordinates, compiles and maintains all certification & accreditation documentation for appropriate accreditation authorities.
- Evaluates and assesses vulnerabilities of classified network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators.
- Analyzes equipment and software reliability and suitability for vulnerability assessment utilization.

- This is an Information Security Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technician (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of appointment to this position. Certification requirements may be found in DoD 8570.01-M Information Security Workforce Improvement Program.
- The employee will be required to have, or obtain, and maintain a valid driver's license.
- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program

- The SECOND area of consideration will be Veterans' Preference (VP) eligible.
