Overview
The Paralegal will provide litigation and administrative support to the Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Colorado. This role supports Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in civil cases filed against the federal government and requires strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills. The work is performed in a professional federal office environment and involves handling sensitive legal materials.

Overview
The Paralegal will provide litigation and administrative support to the Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Colorado. This role supports Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in civil cases filed against the federal government and requires strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills. The work is performed in a professional federal office environment and involves handling sensitive legal materials.
Key Responsibilities
The Paralegal will perform a wide range of litigation support functions, including but not limited to:
- Review, organize, and manage large volumes of emails and documents
- Create, maintain, and utilize spreadsheets and databases for case tracking
- Gather factual information and materials from:
- Federal agencies
- Court records
- Public records
- Read, analyze, and summarize legal and factual materials, including:
- Court pleadings
- Court orders
- Transcripts and case files
- Draft memoranda and summaries for attorney review
- Track court‑imposed deadlines and ensure compliance
- Coordinate with federal agencies to locate, organize, and produce records
- Conduct factual and legal research and prepare written analyses
- Provide automated litigation support, including:
- Preparing pleadings, briefs, and exhibits
- Creating charts, visual aids, and presentation materials
- Supporting hearings and court proceedings through document preparation
- Operate litigation support tools and office technology such as scanners and document management systems
- Perform related administrative and litigation support duties as assigned
- Relevant paralegal or legal support experience (civil litigation preferred)
- Strong writing, organizational, and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with databases preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and time‑management skills
- Ability to review and manage large document productions
- Professional work ethic and ability to handle sensitive information
- Experience supporting federal or government legal offices
- Prior work on civil litigation involving federal agencies
- Experience with document review and litigation support software
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Justice security clearance
- Resume must clearly document relevant experience, skills, and qualifications
- On‑site office setting
- Some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of small office items required
- Government‑furnished workspace, computer, and telephone provided
- Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Federal holidays excluded)
- Anticipated one‑year performance period, with possible extension
