Job Description
Aircraft Mechanic I (CH-47 Specialty) inspect, train others and perform organizational, intermediate and depot level maintenance/modification on contract units, sub-systems, support equipment and related weapons systems. Advise team members and solve unusual maintenance problems by analysis and test on missiles, airframes, engines, flight control, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, etc.

Physical Requirements:
- Services, repairs and overhauls aircraft, aircraft engines wheeled and tracked equipment to ensure serviceability.
- Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, alighting gear, power plants/trains, fuel systems (including cells, tanks and fuel/metering control systems), and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
- Inspects and repairs power plants (engines) malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc.
- Diagnoses malfunctions, isolate causes and correct breaks.
- Tests engine operation, using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction.
- Replaces and repairs damaged components, use hand tools, gauges, and test equipment.
- Remove engine and major components from aircraft, using hoist or other lifting devices.
- Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
- Repairs and replaces defective engine components and reassembles and install engine in aircraft.
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces instruments, avionics and navigations, ADP flight control, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems and aircraft accessories.
- Performs aircraft and vehicle services, including engine flush/cleaning, parts lubrication, and maintenance checks.
- May be required to be licensed by FAA.
- May service engines and aircraft components at flight line operations making repairs, short of overhaul, required to ensure aircraft safe operating condition.
- May specialize in repair and modification of engines, structural components, precision repair, functional spare parts, and assemblies.
- Recommends revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship.
- Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Requirements
- Must have a valid up-to-date A&P license. This is preferred but not necessarily required.
- If no A&P license, must have three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission design Series (MDS). CH-47 All experience must be withing the six most recent years.
- All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft, missile, or wheeled and track vehicle maintenance mandatory.
- Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application to the contract unit.
- Must know theory and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; theory of flight; rigging of flight controls; electrical and electronic; pneudraulic; and mechanical principles.
- Knowledge of sheet metal, properties of materials, fuels, and oils required.
- Read, interpret, and use manufacturer's and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
- Must possess and maintain a Valid Passport
- Must provide own Tools/Tool Box. Tool Box must be shadowed with your tools and tools etched with your PID.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
- Is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regulary required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, and taste or smell.
- Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
- The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.
