The Tactical Air Dominance Department (N151) is transforming warfighter operations by accelerating the fielding of advanced families of weapon systems through digital acquisition, advanced simulation and emulation, resilient communications, and autonomy experimentation. Our work programs contribute to the Air Superiority function of the United States Air Force where we are enabling the warfighter to execute current and emerging kill chains effectively and efficiently in highly contested environments. Our Department is seeking an experienced, assertive, highly entrepreneurial, and collaborative Lead Cloud and Networking Engineer to lead and execute our Advanced Aircraft (ADVA) Systems Design and Engineering Task with the Fighters & Advanced Aircraft Directorate at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. This position offers challenging opportunities to apply integration, innovation, and analysis skills to directly address some of the Air Force's highest priority challenges such as the Next-Generation Air Dominance Family of Systems. This position is on-site at Wright-Patterson AFB and may require temporary duty travel to support critical sponsor objectives.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The ADVA Systems Design and Engineering Task Leader is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing a defined body of work in support of the sponsor's mission. This includes translating sponsor objectives into clear technical tasks, managing scope, schedule, and deliverables, and coordinating the work of a multidisciplinary team. The ADVA Systems Design and Engineering Task Leader ensures technical quality, integrates inputs across team members and partners, and proactively identifies risks and mitigation strategies. They serve as a primary interface with sponsor stakeholders, provide regular status and decision briefings, and deliver well-founded recommendations aligned with sponsor priorities and MITRE's independent, objective role.

Basic Qualifications:

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of systems engineering or aerospace engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Experience architecting and designing government representations (digital or analytic) of advanced aerospace weapon systems, including:
  • Air vehicles
  • Integrated ground systems
  • Autonomy-related capabilities
  • Supporting digital infrastructure
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage system requirements, and to produce logical and functional system designs (system structure, behaviors, and data flows)
• Experience with systems engineering methodologies; familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles
• Ability to understand and implement Government Reference Architectures (GRAs)
• Experience with development, integration, and certification of subsystem components and system architectures
• Proven leadership experience managing and directing multidisciplinary engineering teams of 10-15 people (varying disciplines and experience levels)
• Strong communication skills with demonstrated experience briefing senior government or senior customer stakeholders on status, critical decisions, and technical recommendations
• Experience serving as a primary point of contact (POC) for key sponsor or customer tasks
• Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SAP access.
• U.S. Citizenship required
• This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
• Hands-on experience with MBSE tools and environments; Cameo/MagicDraw experience preferred
• Experience in data architecture for complex systems
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and processes
• Familiarity with Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) concepts and standards
• Familiarity with mission planning systems, tools, or processes in an aerospace/defense context
• Experience supporting Special Access Programs (SAPs)

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$146,400 - $183,000 - $219,600 Annual
