Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) with a focus on Systems of Systems (SoS) architectures to support Space Systems Command missions in El Segundo, CA. This role provides systems engineering, mission architecting, and analytical support to Space Combat Power and Battle Management, Command, Control, Communications, and Space Intelligence (BMC3SI) Deltas. The position supports architecting the Space Control enterprise, including counter-space missions such as orbital and spectrum warfare.

Work Environment:
- On-site role in El Segundo, CA supporting enterprise-level space systems architecture and Space Control mission development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership guidance on mission engineering strategies for complex SoS architectures.
- Support systems engineering and mission architecting efforts for Space Control capabilities.
- Develop, review, and assess technical requirements, ensuring compliance and mission alignment.
- Support space systems technical reviews, assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Identify mission-critical activities and functions to support mission thread development.
- Model and analyze as-is and to-be functional and physical architectures.
- Provide program and technical insight to modeling and analysis teams related to system architecture, interfaces, schedules, and assumptions.
- Lead adoption and integration of digital engineering practices, including MBSE and Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A).
- Convert legacy systems engineering artifacts into digital, model-based formats.
- Support strategic communication and technical messaging to government and operational stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 9+ years of experience in systems engineering and architecture for major system acquisitions.
- Strong experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML-based modeling.
- Hands-on experience with Cameo Systems Architect and/or Sparx Enterprise Architect .
- Working knowledge of DoDAF views for Systems-of-Systems architectures and planning.
- Experience supporting requirements development, verification, compliance, and architectural trade studies.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and complex organizational environments.
Clearance Requirement:
- Must possess an in-scope T5 background investigation adjudicated for SCI eligibility and enrolled in Continuous Evaluation (if applicable).
- Must be willing to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP).
- Must be willing to consent to a polygraph examination.
Preferred:
- Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with Department of War architectural frameworks (e.g., DoDAF).
- Background in military space operations, particularly Space Domain Awareness (SDA) programs.
- Experience working within U.S. Government weapons system program offices or development environments.
- Experience integrating MBSE with Modeling and Simulation to deliver validated system architectures.
- Professional certification such as INCOSE, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Digital Engineering tools and operational analysis methods supporting data-driven decision making.
Compensation:
- Pay Band: $165,000 - $210,000 (based on years of relevant experience)
