Network Architect SME
Program Description:
The MCC manages the safe and reliable execution of maintenance, planning, acquisition, disposal, performance monitoring, and identification/repair of failures of network assets (i.e Interfaces and equipment). These efforts are performed to support existing and planned spacecraft/satellite mission operations.
The MCC maintains continuous flight operations with CRS (NASA Manned Spaceflight), Mission Extension Vehicle (MEV), Mission Robotic Vehicle (MRV), and Mission Extension Pods (MEP) from Dulles, Virginia and a backup MCC in Gilbert, AZ.
In addition to existing flight operations, the MCC also monitors and supports more than 30 geosynchronous (GEO) orbit missions for various customers worldwide.
Each of these interfaces requires a secure VPN or dedicated connection for telemetry monitoring and spacecraft troubleshooting.
To support the existing operations a network infrastructure has been established. This encompasses numerous firewalls, switches, and routers. Additionally, there are numerous dedicated and VPN connections between the MCC and customers that require constant assessment to protect against unauthorized access.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
The Subcontractor shall provide all aspects of engineering services including management, administration of existing infrastructure as well as coordination, and development of design documents required to support construction, installation, testing, startup, and commissioning of planned projects.
The subcontractor shall work with various programs to produce detailed network drawings, networking switches, and firewalls and documentation to support Factory Acceptance Testing, Operational Acceptance Testing and commissioning.
The subcontractor shall specify necessary operation and maintenance manuals, enterprise and system support licenses.
The subcontractor shall have an in-depth knowledge of cyber security and poses a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert Certification (CCIE).
The subcontractor must have in-depth knowledge of SES Transfer Orbit Support (TOS)
network and be able to troubleshoot issues at MCC facilities in Dulles, VA. Gilbert, Az.
As well as remote antenna sites.
The subcontractor must have a minimum of 5 years of experience designing, troubleshooting and maintaining remote antenna sites and operations.
O&M manuals and draft maintenance procedures shall be developed for the entire MCC complex.
