A Day in the Life - What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) solutions for server-based applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional software and systems engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-performance front-end applications.
- Translate user requirements and design concepts into production-quality code.
- Develop and implement responsive, reusable UI components using modern front-end frameworks.
- Integrate UI components with backend services using REST APIs and GraphQL.
- Manage application state using modern state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, Context API).
- Create wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity mockups to guide development.
- Apply human-centered design principles to enhance usability and user satisfaction.
- Optimize web application performance for speed, scalability, and responsiveness.
- Design and implement data visualization components using modern libraries.
- Support real-time, event-driven UI systems and dynamic data flows.
- Collaborate on UI architecture, component libraries, and design system standards.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of UI/UX processes.
- Principal: Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline with 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or PhD with 0 years of experience
- Sr. Principal: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or PhD with 4 years of experience
- Active DoD Secret security clearance at time of application
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks such as React (preferred), Angular, or Vue
- Experience integrating UI with backend services using REST APIs and GraphQL
- Ability to translate design concepts into production-quality code
- Experience with state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, Context API, etc.)
- Familiarity with component-based architecture and reusable UI design patterns
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process (research, wireframes, prototypes, production)
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or Lunacy
- Ability to create wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity mockups
- Strong understanding of human-centered design principles
- Understanding of client-server architecture
- Experience with real-time data flows and event-driven UI systems
- Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques
- Experience with data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js, or similar)
- Ability to travel as required to support program needs
- Experience developing UI for Command & Control systems
- Experience supporting space, defense, or mission-critical applications
- Experience working with real-time streaming data technologies (WebSockets, Kafka)
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization flows (OAuth, JWT)
- Experience designing role-based UI/UX systems
- Experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries (e.g., Storybook)
- Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for front-end deployment
